Times Colonist sprach ausführlich mit William Shatner über sein neues Sendeformat William Shatner's Weird or What?.

In jeder Woche wird sich die Serie mit drei mysteriösen Fällen beschäftigen und dabei versuchen, eine wissenschaftliche oder zumindest logische Erklärung für seltsame Ereignisse zu bieten. Oftmals dadurch, indem Experimente durchgeführt oder Gespräche mit Experten gesucht werden. Shatner selbst erklärte, die Sendung wolle "das Unerklärbare erklären."

Natürlich wird es darin auch um die Frage gehen, ob außerirdisches Leben existiert. Der Ur-Kirk hat indes diese Frage schon für sich selbst beantwortet: "Es gibt keinen Zweifel daran, dass da draußen Leben ist. Die Mathematik dessen führt einen zu dieser absoluten Gewissheit. […] Aber wieso sie uns hier besuchen und sich dann nicht jedem offenbaren würden, übersteigt mein Verständnis von Logik."
